Pony Trekking

Mountain Sports

Glenshee Ski Centre Cairnwell (2069 - 3502 feet), 9 miles south of Braemar on A93. 26 Tows and 2 Chair-lifts. Restaurants; shop, toilets. Ski and Snowboard hire, instruction. Extensive parking. In summer the chair-lifts run to the top of the Cairnwell and the restaurant is open for meals, snacks and drinks. (Tel: 013397 41320)

The Lecht Ski Centre Strathdon, 25 miles north of Braemar, superbly complementing Glenshee, especially for beginners. (Tel: 01975 651440)

Loch Callater

The countryside around Braemar provides endless opportunities for walking. There is a vast area to explore with an amazing variety of wildlife, and abundance of wild flowers, trees, lochs and rivers as well as breathtaking views of mountains.

Possible starting points for experienced hill walkers are the Cairnwell Ski Centre or the Spittal of Glenshee. Please beware of stalking restrictions in August, September and October.
